Division of cranes according to their purpose

The use of cranes in construction work is often indispensable - they make tasks much easier, streamline the workflow and allow work to be completed more quickly. Cranes are a way of easing the burden on workers. In order to perform their function effectively, they should be properly selected for the tasks during which they will be used. It is worth knowing the classification of cranes according to their purpose. So what types of cranes are there?

Division of cranes according to their purpose

Classification of lifting equipment found on construction sites

The purpose of the cranes determines their division into the following categories:

  • passenger cranes - are equipped with a hydraulic or electric drive and are used to transport people in a cabin, moving vertically. In the context of the construction industry, cranes are used to transport workers to the next floors of buildings,
  • goods lifts - these machines do not have the space to transport people, but they can successfully handle the transport of building materials and tools,
  • goods-person cranes - a kind of combination of the two previous crane models.

Depending on the needs and conditions, prevailing on the area of construction, you can choose cranes and transportations best suited to the requirements of the given area. A well-chosen crane significantly improves the work in progress.

Aspects determining the choice of crane

Willing to choose the ideal crane, should make advance verification of the planned work, to which he will be used. Important parameters that must be taken into account and determine the purpose of the crane are the maximum lifting capacity, i.e. the weight that the equipment can lift, as well as the speed, lifting height and control method. The question is decisive, and their ground rethink allows to supply the site in the most effective equipment. Crane hire is an interesting option, as it removes the need to invest large sums of money in the purchase of construction equipment, allows the equipment to be tested and replaced if it does not meet expectations.
