A genset is used to generate electricity itself, which can then be used to power various appliances. The genset itself has a fairly simple structure, as it consists of a generator driven by an internal combustion engine for which the fuel (depending on the model) is petrol, natural gas or diesel. There is a choice of stationary and portable generators with a variety of outputs. The stationary ones serve as an emergency power supply for outbuildings, hospitals or homes, while the portable ones are easy to transport to where they are needed at a given moment, for example to a plot of land or construction site.
